Dancer with Thyrsus – Large Model – Art Deco Bronze

Spectacular silvered bronze sculpture by Guirande-Joe Descomps, circa 1930.
It depicts a woman dancing with a thyrsus.

It rests on an octagonal Portoro marble base.

Signed J D Guirande on the dress.

Dancer with Thyrsus – Large Model

Spectacular silvered bronze sculpture of a very elegant dancer holding a thyrsus, or Baton Fleuri, with her heart embellished with grape and vine leaves. It rests on an octagonal Portoro marble base. Signed Guirande on the dress.

Designed by Joe Descomps (Joseph Jules Emmanuel Cormier) (1869-1950), who often used the pseudonym Guirande.

He exhibited at the 1925 Exposition Internationale des Arts Décoratifs et Industriels Modernes (International Exhibition of Modern Decorative and Industrial Arts).

Very rare in that combination and size.
