ROYAL QUEEN ELIZABETH II CORONATION CHAIR with Blue Velvet Upholstery: An original HM Queen Elizabeth II Coronation chair, 1953

This chair was made as guest seating for the Royal Coronation of Queen Elizabeth II in 1953.

The limed oak chair is stamped on the inside rails, W. Hands & Sons Ltd, c. CORONATION and is in excellent condition. After the coronation, and in order to try and recover some of the costs of the event, by an act of Parliament those who had attended the coronation were allowed to purchase the chair or stool they had sat on during the ceremony. 

The chairs were sold for 7 pounds 10 shillings each.
